What I'm Looking Forward To After "Donut" Arrives
Now that I’m in the home stretch-currently 37 weeks, I’m counting down the days to when Donut arrives. Odin was 2 weeks early so I’m hoping that Donut actually goes all the way to her due date, May 9th although I’d prefer she’s born on May 8th (because it’s Aaron’s birthday).
During the first 4 months of my pregnancy I had HG (hyperemesis gravidarum- severe morning sickness) and it was draining to say the least. I couldn’t keep anything down, water made me feel worse and nothing helped or made me feel better except Gatorade and Vitamin zero water (acai-blueberry-pomegranate flavor). As a result, I lost a lot of weight and I had to leave my job so that I could stay home and go through the “morning sickness” phase without any further stress.
After being pregnant for 2 years in a row-yes, seriously, at least that’s what it feels like- here are some things I’m looking forward to after Donut gets here;
I can’t wait to meet Donut! I want to know what she looks like and finally be able to kiss her face, cuddle her and bring her home with us. I’m also eager to see Odin’s reaction when he meets her. The thought of him having someone to play with and not be by himself all the time makes me look forward to her arrival even more. I know it’ll be a while before I can leave him alone with her but I’m just glad he won’t be by himself anymore.
When I learned that I was pregnant, I got lazy about exercising and practicing yoga. I figured if I’m going to just gain weight and get bigger in the middle anyway, why bother. But after a year of not being very active, I am really looking forward to running on the treadmill, practicing yoga and losing the baby weight.
Sleeping on my belly, laying on my belly and rolling out of bed with ease:
Oh, how I have missed sleeping on my stomach! It’s true what they say, you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone- like the simple pleasure of being able to fall asleep on your tummy, or just rolling out of bed. I’m pretty sure my left side is tired of me using it every night since I can’t even sleep on my right side comfortably due to acid reflux. Now, I’m just counting down the days until I get my stomach back, and can sleep however I want!
I can’t wait to pop open a bottle of wine and enjoy as many glasses as I want. I do need to get new glasses because all the ones “mysteriously” disappeared.
Shopping for my new wardrobe
I must confess I do enjoy scrolling through Instagram and exploring Pinterest boards for maternity fashion but being a stay at home mom, I’m not really motivated to buy maternity clothes because the thought of adding clothes that I will only wear once does not sit well with me. So after reading “The Life Changing Magic Of Tidying Up,” by Marie Kondo, purging my closet and creating space to redefine my style, I’m SUPER excited to go shopping.
